Finalist in ScreenCraft’s 2023 Cinematic Short Story Competition

I’m excited to announce that one of my favorite short stories I’ve ever written, called “Trees,” has advanced to the finals in ScreenCraft’s 2023 Cinematic Short Story Competition. The story is actually a chapter from my novel. That others saw something in this story is quite meaningful to me because this story represents so much of who I am as a writer.

But the most exciting thing of all for me, and the thing that makes me feel like I’ve already won, is that several of my dream literary agents are on the jury. This means they are now going to read my short story. Carly Watters is going to read my short story. Zoe Howard is going to read my short story. Erin Clyburn is going to read my short story. Kimberley Cameron is going to read my short story. Elizabeth Kracht is going to read my short story. This is absolutely bananas!

Winners will be announced April 5th. Fingers crossed! But after that, win or lose, it’s time to start querying agents. I’m working on final revisions, and I’ll keep you posted.

Congratulations to all the finalists!
