I have a new essay out in the Los Angeles Times this morning! It will be in the print edition on Sunday under the title “She Seeks Romance at the Seashore”–I love this title, which the editors came up with, because of the way it’s reminiscent of the tongue twister: “She sells seashells at the seashore.”
But online is a whole different ballgame because of search engine optimization, so the online version is called: “I hooked up with a dreamy musician at the beach. Was I asking for trouble?” And the title in the browser meta data is even more pointed: “I wasn’t lucky with love. Would a hot musician change my tune?”
I love the artwork Jannik Stegen came up with–the girl looks just like me. 😉 And she’s holding a bottle of beer with a lime in it, with the beach and the moonlight in the background. Sweet.
You can read the essay here: I hooked up with a dreamy musician at the beach. Was I asking for trouble?
And if you get the LA Times in print, it will be in Sunday’s edition, in the Lifestyle section.
If you’re subscribed to either of my Substacks, Busy Women Write Books or My California, I’ll be writing about the experience of getting this piece published because I learned something huge in the course of the experience that I think other writers can learn from, too. And then, it’s such a California story. 🙂
