“Slipstreamed” Nominated for a Pushcart Prize

I received some exciting news yesterday: My essay “Slipstreamed” was nominated for a Pushcart Prize!

The odds of actually winning a Pushcart Prize are not good. In fact, I know some writers who would make fun of me for even announcing the nomination, because sooooo many stories and essays are nominated each year. It’s relatively easy to be nominated.

So I’m not bragging, but I am celebrating the fact that someone saw this essay that means so much to me as worthy of recognition. I’m a big proponent of celebrating all the wins, big and small, because life is full of enough rejection, isn’t it?
